As we know, there are obvious advantage of being a price maker. That relates to every single business that you do. Money changer, brokers, sports bookmakers make their living by being a price maker. A balanced price maker usually don't make huge fortune in a single day, but they aim for consistent profits over the long term.
Having said that, it makes trading exchange traded products a distinct advantage over OTC, because you can never be a price maker in OTC counters. E.g. when you work an offer to sell Eur @ 1.2500, your order can never be filled unless the market turns 1.2500 bid. This advantage might not be obvious in a single trade, but it should make quite a big difference over a long period of time.
